Nestled in nature, on a working farm in Conwy, North Wales, Castor is the perfect shack to escape to for some much needed time out. Here, you'll wake up in solitude, with views of the sweeping countryside, sheep grazing quietly and the odd deer passing by. You're a stone's throw from the coast, with beautiful walks, spectacular castles, and waterfalls to explore. And just a 30 minute drive from Snowdonia, opening up a whole host of adventures. Back at your shack, light the fire, pick a favourite drink and toast to the most magical holiday.

From Castor there is a 10 min drive in to the small town of Abergele which has a lovely selection of traditional pubs and cosy cafes. If you prefer to walk it will take you around 50 minutes to get into the town, you'll be able to enjoy the fantastic Welsh countryside full of green hills and grazing sheep.

Finding Castor

You’ll find Castor nestled in it's own private field surrounded by woodland with expansive views through the trees. Parking is situated off the road and then its a 350m walk through a couple of fields to the shack (remember to shut the gate behind you!)
Light the wood burner during the winter or relax in our outdoor chairs during the summer. Castor comes with a decking, perfect for sipping drinks on during the summer.

Castor is on a working farm, very occasionally you’ll see the local farmer harvesting crops or herding livestock.

The nearest station: Abergele, it's a 15-minute taxi from there.

When you arrive, parking is situated off the road and then its an easy 250m walk across a couple of fields to the shack.

How do you get to Castor?
You can travel to Castor by car or public transport. After your booking, our helpful welcome guide will explain both in more detail.

Once you've arrived, the walk to Castor is about 350 meters through a couple of fields. Remember to shut the gates behind you! 🐑
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 3pm
Check-out is at 10am

You can choose the early check-in option at check out for an extra £25, then you can arrive any time after 1pm.
Is there a toilet and shower?
Every shack has an eco-composting toilet and a hot shower. We also provide eco-friendly toiletries, luxury towels, hand towels, and shower mats.
Is Castor pet friendly?
All our shacks are pet-friendly, and we charge a flat £35 fee regardless of whether you bring one or more dogs. Just select the pet option at check out, and you can bring your whole gang with you!

Cats are also welcome too 🐈
Is there firewood included?
Yes, we supply a big bag of kindling and a big bag of logs. There is plenty for your stay. However, if you think you will be spending a lot of time by the fire pit, then you can purchase unlimited firewood at check-out for £20.
Where is best for food and drink?
George and Dragon is a very welcoming pub with a dog friendly beer garden at the back.
They have a great menu of mains, small plates and desserts, they even do cocktails if you fancy treating yourself!

The Harp Inn is a traditional pub very popular with the locals. Get yourself some hearty pub food and enjoy the heated beer garden. Dogs are welcome here too.
What to do in the local area?

Pensarn Beach here you can enjoy the promenade with its cafes, shops and game arcade or take yourself off to a more secluded part of the beach. It goes on for miles!
Dog friendly apart from a small section of the beach between May-Sep.

Gwrych Castle has 250acres of garden and grounds is well worth a visit. Explore the amazing history of this castle where they also filmed "I'm a celebrity..get me out of here" during covid. Dogs are welcome here on the lead.

Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard go for a tour and tasting at this Welsh vineyard. There are different options for tours, our favourite is the one including the charcuterie and cheese board at the end!

Bodnant Garden have a stroll around these beautiful gardens, part of the National Trust and home to historic plant collections.

Zip World looking for something a little bit more adventurous, at Zip World they have plenty of activities for you to try including zip-lining and underground golf.
