We have unrivalled knowledge and experience of landowning, natural construction methods, and self-catering country holidays. As well as a proven track record of income generation.
Each shack is specifically tailored to a site’s unique attributes, whether long-reaching views or tucked away in a clearing in the forest. We can be trusted to treat your land with the respect we would expect.
Every step of the process from the design to the build and the management of the shacks is done by us, ensuring the quality of our landhosts’ and guests’ experiences. Due to the nature of our shacks and our localised building materials, we have great eco-credentials.
Is your land right for a Shacks partnership?
We are looking for those special places on your land where you feel most at peace. It could be deep in a wood where you can only hear the rustle of wildlife or perched on top of a hill with a view for miles. It will suit shacks perfectly as long as it is peaceful and calm.
The site for a shack needs to be accessible for us so that we can complete the delivery and installation. That means a level approach and openings at least three meters wide. The site also needs to be accessible for the guests when we are up and running so they don’t have to hike too far to get there.
The main thing here is that the water is reliable, either from a mains or a treated Spring supply. If the water is only suitable for showering that’s ok, we can supply drinking water for the guests.
At the start of the guest’s journey, there needs to be an off-road parking area; this is where we leave the log store and wellie stores, too.
What is our commitment to you?
Whether you want to own a shack or lease your land to us, you do not need to be involved in the build or operation. So we won’t be asking you to run out to top up the guest’s salt and pepper! We manage everything from the first enquiry to check out.
We have spent a long time perfecting our offering; as builders and holiday operators, we do not outsource any of the work. This makes the running of the sites hassle free for you as we’ve got it covered.
You can work with us in two ways; we offer our land hosts the opportunity to either lease us a small plot of land, or you can buy a shack from us, and we will manage it for you as one of our own. We have strong ties with the farming community, and we are partnered with Oxbury Bank, which will provide finance for your purchase of the shack.

Shacks was founded by Harry, a country person with a background in design and furniture making, he loves unlocking unique locations across the UK. Young and full of energy, he needed the guiding hand of Clive (Sykes) and Miles (Hill), both responsible for the success of Sykes cottages. As a three, they are on a mission to make shacks the name of off-grid holidays.

We are country people who want to give people access to the countryside, it’s a unique experience for our guests, and they treat all our beautiful locations with the respect they would expect.
Sustainability is a massive focus for us at shacks, from where we source our building materials to how we run our shacks. They are all off-grid with solar power and composting loos. So we feel good about our impact on the planet.
