Tucked away in the peaceful countryside, Altair is one of our newest off-grid shacks, nestled in the beautiful North Wales. Designed for two adults and with extra bunkbeds for two little ones, it’s the perfect family retreat to unwind and escape the noise of daily life. Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Clwydian Range and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there’s no shortage of activities to help you reconnect with nature.

Finding Altair

You’ll find Altair nestled in it's own private field surrounded by the Welsh countryside. Parking is situated off the road and then its a 250m walk up to the shack.

Not far from Holywell, you'll find your shack just off the Denbigh Road.

Getting to Altair

Car:
50 minutes from Liverpool
1 hour 15 from Manchester
4 hours from London

Nearest station: Hawarden and a 20 minute taxi.

Once you arrive, you can park beside the farms outbuilding, and walk 200m to the shack.

Based in North Wales, Altair offers the opportunity to reconnect and explore the rolling hills of the countryside.

Nestled between Mold and Denbigh, you will find that the highest point of the Clwydian Range, Moel Famau is just a stones throw away. With various paths, it can be as challenging or family-friendly as you make it and offers breath-taking views across the country, offering the perfect opportunity to reconnect with yourself and nature.

Venture to Loggerheads and follow the river around the family-friendly country park before climbing to the top to see the Clwydian Range and the Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in all their glory. When you're done, take advantage of the local cafe in the park.

Explore the market town of Mold, just a 15 minute drive away, where the town offers local pubs and eateries, and a weekly market offering locally-sourced goods.

How do you get to Altair?

You can travel to Altair by car or public transport. After your booking, our helpful welcome guide will explain both in more detail.

Once you've arrived, the walk to Altair is about 200 meters up a small slope and then out into your own private field. Remember to keep gates closed!

When is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 3pm
Check-out is at 10am

You can choose the early check-in option at check out for an extra £25, then you can arrive any time after 1pm.

Is there a toilet and shower?

Every shack has an eco-composting toilet and a hot shower. We also provide eco-friendly toiletries, luxury towels, hand towels, and shower mats.

Is Altair pet friendly?

All our shacks are pet-friendly, and we charge a flat £35 fee regardless of whether you bring one or more dogs. Just select the pet option at check out, and you can bring your whole gang with you!

Cats are also welcome too 🐈

Is there firewood included?

Yes, we supply a big bag of kindling and a big bag of logs. There is plenty for your stay. However, if you think you will be spending a lot of time by the fire pit, then you can purchase unlimited firewood at check-out for £20.

Where is best for food and drink?

The Cherry Pie Inn - Welcome to our cozy little pub, where delicious food awaits you! It's just a quick 5-minute drive or a lovely 40-minute stroll from your Shack. We think you're going to love it!

Crown Inn - Come on in and explore this charming pub, only a short 3-minute drive or a delightful 25-minute walk away from your Shack. With a warm log burner to keep you snug, they also warmly welcome your furry friends!

Y Delyn Wine and Tapas Bar - Just a lovely 15-minute drive away in the quaint town of Mold, you'll find the Delyn Wine and Tapas Bar. It’s the perfect spot for couples to enjoy a romantic date night after a day filled with outdoor adventures. We can’t wait for you to experience it!

The Gathering - If you're the type who enjoys coffee and cake, this is definitely the place for you! They serve a fantastic breakfast and have plenty of lunch options, all in the delightful town of Mold!
