Sussex has quietly become one of England’s finest wine regions. Rolling chalk downland, south-facing slopes, and a growing list of award-winning estates producing sparkling wines to rival Champagne. And these cabins sit right in the middle of it, off-grid and solar-powered, with nothing between you and the vines but a short drive.
This is a wine holiday built around slowing down. Mornings with the door open, afternoons strolling through the vines and enjoying tasting rooms, evenings back at the cabin with a bottle you picked up that day.
Vineyards to Visit While You’re Here
Rathfinny Wine Estate, near Alfriston One of Sussex’s most established names, with tours and tastings across a working estate at the foot of the South Downs. A proper introduction to English sparkling wine, and a beautiful spot to walk before or after.
Ridgeview Wine Estate, near Ditchling A specialist in sparkling wine, Ridgeview has picked up serious international recognition for it. Tastings here are relaxed – good for both first-timers and anyone who already knows their Blanc de Blancs from their Bloomsbury.
Artelium Wine Estate Known as much for its setting as its wine, with seasonal dining that makes an afternoon here easy to stretch into evening. Come for the tasting, stay for the views.
Between the three, you’ve got a full day out without leaving the Downs. Or an easy few days if you’re taking it slowly, which we’d recommend.
